Recognition of Achievement

Pupils' progress is enhanced by an encouraging and positive atmosphere and so the school rewards effort and achievement in the classroom daily as the children work towards bronze, silver and gold certificates. Particularly good examples of work or attitude are rewarded with an Excellence Award at an assembly to which the parents are invited to attend. The school regards the partnership between school and parents to be very important. Parents are welcome in the classroom and are encouraged to informally discuss with the Teacher day-to-day concerns. Formal tests are carried out twice a year from Year 3 for Spelling and Reading. National SATS tests are used at the end of Year 2 to test English and Maths, and at the end of Year 6 to test English, Maths and Science. A detailed written report is provided for parents once a year and in the Spring Term there is an opportunity to meet with the class teacher at Parents Evening.
