ECS - The Curriculum
Children cover all the main subjects and skills contained within the National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2. These are delivered within the context of topic-based units of work (one topic per term). The topics have been developed collaboratively by teaching staff annd curriculum consultants, and are each designed to catch children's imagination, communicating wonder and gratitude, responsibility and enquiry, as well as the core skills and knowledge which every child needs to learn.

Examples of topics might include "Treasure" - exploring God's rich provision of material resources and our responsibility in using them.

At Nursery level, this topic would include colours and patterns, shapes and sizes; at Key Stage 1 the focus would be on exploring materials and their properties and learning about other natural resources; Upper Juniors would build in a greater element of history, learning about the Victorians as inventors.

More information about topic work can be found in the sections on individual classes.
