Pupils take part in a wide variety of activities:
- All
Both Upper and Lower Juniors receive a swimming lesson every fortnight and achieve high standards
of proficiency. All pupils have a lesson in the gym every week and games lessons, often in the local playing field. Pupils pay a fortnightly visit to the local library.
- Educational
visits are important to learning and popular recent ones have been to
the Arboretum, to the Oxford museums – Central, Pitt Rivers and
Curioxity; Didcot Power Station, Shotover Park and an extended stay
over in York for the Transport museum, a week's stay in mid-Wales with visits to Ironbridge and the Alternative Technology Centre
- Every
lunchtime offers pupils voluntary activities. Recently these have
included Football Club, Netball Club, Wildlife Explorers, Chess Club,
Christian Union and graded Recorder classes.
- Pupils in Year 5 & 6 are offered cycling proficiency training and work towards the certificate.
- At
the end of every term all pupils are involved in a School Presentation.
This may be a Musical Play, or Talent Show or a Thanksgiving Service or
Easter Meditation.
- We encourage pupils to serve
others and to this end we take opportunities to sing to elderly folk in
the neighbourhood or other groups like the Orchard House residential home.
- Every term we have fundraising efforts – usually for charities like
Tear Fund, or specific projects abroad like struggling schools in Central Asia or a church in Kenya.
