Special Opportunities for Pupils
Pupils take part in a wide variety of activities:

    • Children from Years 3-6 receive a swimming lesson every fortnight and achieve high standards of proficiency. All pupils have a lesson in the gym every week and games lessons, often in the local playing field. Pupils pay a fortnightly visit to the local library.

    • Educational visits are important to learning and popular recent ones have been to the History of Science museum, a local farm, Cadbury World, the River Thames (on a boat!), Chedworth Villa and Cirencester Roman Museum and the Covered Market.

    • Pupils in the Upper Junior Class have the opportunity of a week's residential course at a centre in mid Wales.

    • Voluntary lunchtime activities have recently included - Football Club, Netball Club, Wildlife Explorers, Chess Club, Christian Union and graded Recorder classes.

    • Pupils in Year 5 & 6 are offered cycling proficiency training and work towards the certificate.

    • At the end of every term all pupils are involved in a School Presentation. This may be a Musical Play, Talent Show, Thanksgiving Service or Easter Meditation.

    • We encourage pupils to serve others and to this end we take opportunities to sing to elderly folk in the neighbourhood or other groups like the Littlemore Railway Lane Club.

    • Nearly every term we have fundraising efforts - usually for charities at home or abroad. In the past year we have supported aids related projects in Kenya, children with cerebral palsy at a Christian school in Central Asia, Operation Christmas child (shoebox gifts), the Oxford Children's Hospital and Wycliffe Bible Translators.
PERIPATETIC MUSIC LESSONS - An exciting new venture
ECS have started a new venture in the academic year 2009/2010, offering peripatetic music lessons to pupils Year 2 - Year 6. At present, piano, guitar, violin and flute lessons are on offer, with a handful of pupils taking up places; we hope in time for there to be more variety of instruments and more pupils wanting to learn. Once the programme has been up and running for a couple of terms, ECS hope to start up a school orchestra, so the children can enjoy playing their instruments with others
