Special Needs

Every child is different with a unique combination of strengths and weaknesses. Our small classes mean that every child is seen as an individual and teachers are well aware of particular needs. Some children come to us with specific learning difficulties and progress will be slower that average. Some children who find learning easy may need more challenge than the average pupil. In seeking to meet the needs of every child the school employs a part-time Special Needs Teacher and we follow the DfES Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs. Pupils referred by the Class Teacher are given extra support either within the classroom setting or in a separate tutorial session and parents are involved in the process of planning the programme of support.
